MADISON, Wis. -- How does multiplying your lottery winnings by 10 sound? It happened in Waupaca last night. A winning $500,000 Powerball ticket was sold at Kwik Trip on 226 W. Fulton St. for the Monday, November 4 drawing. The ticket included a $1 Power Play add-on option, turning a $50,000 winning ticket into a $500,000 win because of the 10X multiplier.
The ticket matched four of five numbers (6-18-33-48-53) and the Powerball (21).
The Power Play feature gives Powerball players the chance to multiply non-jackpot prizes up to 10 times their original value. The 10X multiplier is only available when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less. When the jackpot is $150 million or more, the highest multiplier possible for Power Play is 5X. According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, a 10X multiplier for the Powerball game has been drawn 21 times since 2006.
Wisconsin Lottery retailers who sell winning tickets over $599 receive a two percent Retailer Performance Program Winning Ticket Incentive, up to $100,000.
Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings. Information on how to claim a prize is on wilottery.com. Players can also check to see if their ticket is a winner by using the Lottery mobile app, available on the App Store or Google Play.
Powerball drawings are Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. Tickets must be purchased before 9:00 p.m. to be included in a drawing.
The odds of winning a $50,000 Powerball prize are 1:913,130. For the $1 Power Play add-on option, the odds of a 10X multiplier being drawn on Monday night were 1:43.
