This month, some Megabucks tickets will be struck by lightning.
During September, in addition to the usual six numbers available for a Megabucks play, an extra number per play will be printed on one in every three sets of two Megabucks plays statewide.
The additional number is called the "Lightning Ball," and when it strikes, players can use it to match the winning numbers.
For example:
If a Megabucks player matches four of six numbers drawn, they win $30. But, if a Lightning Ball appears and it also matches another number drawn, the player now matches four of six plus the Lightning Ball numbers resulting in a $500 win instead.
The Lightning Ball counts for any drawings in which that same play is entered.
The Lightning Ball cannot be used to win the Megabucks jackpot. However, players who match five of six numbers and the Lightning Ball will win $10,000. There is no additional cost to the player for the Lightning Ball offer.
Megabucks is a Wisconsin-only lotto game that has drawings on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Tickets are two plays for $1. Megabucks tickets must be purchased before 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday to be included in that day's drawing.
