Winning $3.5 Million Megabucks Ticket Sold in Oak Creek
Big win is a first for Discount Smokes and Spirits

Megabucks win in Oak Creek

Madison, Wis. -- The Wisconsin-only lotto game, Megabucks, had a mega winner on Wednesday night. A winning $3.5 million ticket was sold by Discount Smokes and Spirits on 2111 E. Rawson Ave. in Oak Creek for the February 8 drawing. The winning numbers were 5-6-9-11-14-17.

Discount Smokes and Spirits owner, Yash Patel was thrilled to learn of the win.

"We're so happy to sell a jackpot winner. Nothing like this has ever happened to us. We've never sold a winning ticket of more than $1,000."

Not to be confused with the multi-jurisdictional game Mega Millions, Megabucks is only offered in Wisconsin and is one of the longest-running lotto games in the Badger State. Megabucks offers two plays for $1 and the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 6,991,908. According to Patel, many of his customers prefer playing Wisconsin lotto games.

"We have several players that believe their chances are better with the Wisconsin-only lotto games."

The Megabucks jackpot was won four times in 2023. The Oak Creek Megabucks win is the game's first jackpot winner of 2024. The last time a Megabucks jackpot was hit was on September 20 when a winning $2.8 million ticket was purchased at Kwik Trip on 12501 W. Arden Place in Butler.

Megabucks has drawings on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Tickets must be purchased before 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday to be included in that day's drawing.

Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings. Information on how to claim a prize is available at wilottery.com/winners/claim-prize. Players can also check their tickets using the Wisconsin Lottery mobile app, available on the App Store or Google Play.
