MADISON, Wisconsin

It was a wondrous Wednesday in Wisconsin.

Three different lotto games produced big winning tickets following their September 20 drawings. In Butler, a winning $2.8 million Megabucks ticket was purchased at Kwik Trip on 12501 W. Arden Place. The winning numbers were 10-17-25-29-41-44. In Fond du Lac, a winning $72,000 Badger 5 jackpot ticket was sold at Hansen's BP on 414 W. Johnson Street and in Stoughton, a winning $50,000 Powerball ticket was sold at Jagat Petroleum LLC on 1009 W. Main Street. The winning numbers for the Badger 5 win were 1-4-5-6-28 while the winning numbers for the Powerball win were 16-27-59-62-63 with a Powerball of 23.

For the Butler Kwik Trip, this is the second time this year a large lotto win was part of the store's sales. The Lottery retailer sold a winning $50,000 Powerball ticket in April.

Hansen's BP is no stranger to big winning tickets. In addition to selling several winning Badger 5 jackpot tickets during its tenure, the store sold a winning $350,000 SuperCash! ticket in May and since 2017 has sold big winning tickets of:

  • $1 million Powerball, February 2020
  • $100,000 scratch ticket, February 2018
  • $350,000 SuperCash!, May 2017

"We've had a lot of Badger 5 jackpots and other winning tickets sold here! Amazing," said owner, Julie Hansen. "I wish it was me that won!"

No one won the Powerball jackpot following Wednesday's drawing but the $50,000 win at Jagat Petroleum LLC was the 36th time in 2023 that a winning Powerball ticket of $50,000 or more was sold in Wisconsin. The estimated Powerball jackpot for the Saturday, September 23 drawing is $725 million.

Wisconsin Lottery retailers who sell winning tickets over $599 receive a two percent Retailer Performance Winning Ticket Incentive, up to $100,000.

Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings. Information on how to claim a prize is available at wilottery.com/winners/claim-prize. Players can check to see if their ticket is a winner by going to wilottery.com or by using the Lottery's new mobile app, available on the App Store or Google Play.

The odds of winning the Megabucks jackpot are 1:6,991,908. Currently, the Wisconsin-only lotto game is in the midst of a limited time offer. During September, in addition to the usual six numbers available for a Megabucks play, an extra number per play will be printed on one in every three sets of two Megabucks plays statewide. The additional number is called the "Lightning Ball," and when it strikes, players can use it to match the winning numbers. The Lightning Ball cannot be used to win the Megabucks jackpot.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1:292,201,338 while the odds of winning $50,000 are 1:913,130. The odds of winning the Badger 5 jackpot are 1:169,911 and the odds of winning a $350,000 SuperCash! prize are 1:1,631,312.
