MADISON, Wis. -- A winning $50,000 Powerball ticket was sold at Monico Short Stop on 1692 Hwy 8 in Monico for the Saturday, December 28, 2024, drawing. The ticket matched four of five numbers (6-31-51-54-55) and the Powerball (12).
It is the 37th winning Powerball ticket of $50,000 or more, sold in Wisconsin, in 2024.
"We've had several calls this morning about the winning ticket," said Monico Short Stop Manager, Wendy Lundt. "It's going to be a great holiday for someone."
"This is by far, the largest winner we've ever sold. We're a small community so we're thrilled to sell a $50,000 ticket," added Lundt.
According to United States Census Bureau (2022), the population of Monico is 343.
Wisconsin Lottery retailers who sell winning tickets over $599 receive a two percent Retailer Performance Winning Ticket Incentive, up to $100,000.
Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings. Information on how to claim a prize is available at wilottery.com. Players can also see if their ticket is a winner by using the Lottery's mobile app, available on the App Store or Google Play.
Powerball drawings are Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. Tickets must be purchased before 9:00 p.m. to be included in a drawing. Powerball tickets are $2 per play, with the option to buy the Power Play feature for an additional $1.
The odds of winning a $50,000 Powerball prize are 1:913,130.
